Eminem at Voodoo Festival

The Grammy and Academy Award-winning multi-platinum rapper/producer Eminem is due to play alongside KISS this weekend, for what has been described as his only concert this year.

The rapper is playing at Voodoo Experience, the punk and rock music festival held at New Orleans City Park.

Kiss, Widespread Panic , Lenny Kravitz , the reunited Jane's Addiction , Wolfmother , Ween and the Flaming Lips are among scores of acts on the festival's three-day bill. The event, staged Friday through Sunday at City Park, departs from typical fests that helicopter into cities with self-contained packages of music and arts.

The city makes the event" .This is the only concert Eminem is doing all year, we're really excited to have him back". Eminem , who was a newly minted superstar when he performed at the 2000 Voodoo, returns in his only full concert for 2009. Eminem headlined Voodoo in 2000 when his career began to soar with his Grammy-winning debut album “Slim Shady.” The rapper went on hiatus after touring in 2005 and it wasn’t until this year that he released “Relapse,” his first album since 2004,says Rehage, a native who founded Voodoo in 1999.

Eminem is expected to perform songs from “Relapse” when he opens Voodoo on Friday.On Saturday, KISS, Jane’s Addiction, Wolfmother, Black Lips and George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic are the headliners. Closing acts Sunday include Lenny Kravitz, the Flaming Lips and Meat Puppets.
